The second edition (1984) is cited in Sheehy. The third edition has been significantly updated and expanded with some 500 new entries on New Age topics and other notable paranormal happenings. The Encyclopedia offers objective coverage of people, places, events, and ideas in alphabetically-arranged entries that range from a paragraph to several pages in length, depending on the importance of the subject discussed. In certain controversial areas, the cases both for and against are presented. In addition to a comprehensive general index, there are nine topic indexes which include: animals, birds, insects; demons; gems; geographical areas; Gods; paranormal phenomena; periodicals; plants and flowers; and societies and organizations.
