In His Nightly Address, Zelensky Offers to Swap Medvedchuk for Captured Ukrainian Troops
On Tuesday (April 12) we reported that Volodymyr Zelensky shared a photo of his handcuffed rival Viktor Medvedchuk—who calls Putin a friend—with the caption: “A special operation was carried out by the SBU. Well done! Details to follow.”
Hours later in his nightly address, Zelensky offered to swap Medvedchuk for captured Ukrainian troops.
Zelensky expressed his delight on Tuesday (April 12) after Ukraine’s main intelligence agency, the SBU, arrested a prominent opposition leader.
The President shared a photo of his handcuffed rival Viktor Medvedchuk—who says Putin is godfather to his daughter—with the caption: “A special operation was carried out by the SBU. Well done! Details to follow.”
“You can be a pro-Russian politician and work for the aggressor state for years. You may have been hiding from justice lately. You can even wear a Ukrainian military uniform for camouflage,” the security services said.
“But will it help you escape punishment? Not at all! Shackles are waiting for you and same goes for traitors to Ukraine like you.”
Medvedchuk heads the second largest party in the national parliament. He was placed under house arrest last year when authorities opened a treason case as part of Zelensky’s clampdown on dissent.
