Ontario Goes Back Into Lockdown, Closes Many Indoor Businesses and Limits Social Gatherings
The province of Ontario in Canada is going back into Step Two of its reopening plan, also known as a soft lockdown.
Step Two measures—which will be implemented on Wednesday (Jan. 5)—include the closure of indoor restaurants, gyms, theaters, music venues, cinemas, galleries and zoos.
Indoor social gatherings will be limited to 5 people and outdoor gatherings to 10, and there will be a 50% capacity limit for weddings, funerals, religious services and retail settings. Capacity limits for personal care services—including hair and nail salons—are cut to 50%. Outdoor settings will be allowed to stay open with restrictions and limited to 50% capacity.
All schools in Ontario—the Canada’s most populous province—will be shut down and moved to online learning.
The Chief Medical Officer of Health will reinstate Directive 2 for hospitals and regulated health professionals, instructing hospitals to pause all non-emergent and non-urgent surgeries and procedures to “preserve critical care and human resource capacity.”
“You’d Have to Kill Me First”: Double-Vaccinated Jordan Peterson Slams Trudeau’s Call for COVID-19 Booster Shots
Famous psychologist Jordan Peterson blasted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s pre-Christmas message that told people they should put COVID-19 booster shots on their “shopping” list.
On December 22, Trudeau tweeted: “If you’re taking care of some last-minute Christmas shopping this week, here’s something else you can add to your list: a booster. If you’re eligible for one but haven’t gotten it yet, please, do so now. And if you don’t have your first or second dose, now’s the time to get it.”
Peterson, who is double-vaccinated but has since regretted getting the injections, made it clear he would not be getting any more COVID-19 vaccinations.
“Up yours Justin Trudeau. Seriously. You’d have to kill me first,” he tweeted on Christmas Eve in response to Trudeau. Peterson admitted he made a “stupid” decision to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Look, I got vaccinated and people took me to task for that and I thought, all right, I’ll get the damn vaccine,” Peterson said in November 2021. “Here’s the deal guy, I’ll get the vaccine, you f–king leave me alone. And did that work? No, so stupid me, you know, that’s how I feel about it.”
