a data scientist running for Congress in Massachusetts 4th District, shares the following thread on Twitter:
“Looking at 10 MOST-VACCINATED states, and 10 LEAST-VACCINATED states, we see that comparing Year-of-Year % change, there is virtually NO DIFFERENCE …
Except that NOW, the 10 most-vaccinated states have nearly 400% HIGHER cases than last year, where 10 LEAST-vaccinated, ‘only’ up 112%.
The large difference (nearly 4x) between % increase in YoY cases between 10 most-vaccinated and 10 least-vaccinated may be explained by vaccines negative efficacy (increased likelihood of infection) for omicron. Negative efficacy means more vaccinated = more cases–which we see.”
“What is Going On?”: COVID-19 Case Rate in Scotland Lowest in the Unvaccinated as Omicron Spread “Ignores the Rules”
Double-vaccinated people in Scotland are now more likely to be admitted to hospital with COVID-19 than the unvaccinated amid an increase in elderly people falling ill due to waning immunity.
It comes amid “weird” data showing that COVID-19 case rates have been lower in the unvaccinated than single, double, or even triple-vaccinated people since Omicron became the dominant variant in Scotland.
The counter-intuitive data from Public Health Scotland contradicts previous pandemic trends which have suggested infection, hospitalization and death rates to be highest among the unvaccinated.
Fauci Admits Omicron Will Infect “Just About Everybody” Regardless of COVID-19 Vaccination Status
During a Center for Strategic International Studies interview on Tuesday (Jan. 11), Dr. Fauci said that the Omicron variant will infect “just about everybody,” regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.
“I think, in many respects, Omicron, with its extraordinary, unprecedented degree of efficiency of transmissibility, will ultimately find just about everybody,” Fauci said. “Those who have been vaccinated and vaccinated and boosted would get exposed. Some, maybe a lot of them, will get infected.”
However, fully vaccinated and boosted people will do “very likely … do reasonably well in the sense of not having hospitalization and death,” according to Fauci. But no matter their COVID-19 vaccination status, not everyone is guaranteed a positive outcome if exposed and infected with the Omicron variant.
