New York’s acting health commissioner, Dr. Mary Bassett, openly admitted this week to misleading the public about child COVID-19 hospitalizations in order to “motivate” parents into getting their children vaccinated.
In a press conference Monday (Dec. 27) alongside Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul, Bassett—who came down with COVID-19 last week despite being fully vaccinated against it—effectively acknowledged that the state health department misleadingly framed the numbers to scare parents.
In a report about the uptick published Tuesday, NBC News admitted (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/child-covid-hospitalizations-are-5-states-are-rise-rcna10089/) that the larger numbers of hospitalizations likely include asymptomatic children brought to the hospital for reasons other than COVID-19.
Fauci admitted the same on Thursday (Dec. 30).
“If a child goes in the hospital, they automatically get tested for COVID and they get counted as a COVID hospitalized individual. When in fact they may go in for a broken leg or appendicitis or something like that. So it’s over-counting the number of children who are quote—hospitalized with COVID, as opposed to—because of COVID,” Fauci said.
