POLICE in Glasgow were called to manage an “unplanned” anti-lockdown demonstration on Saturday which has placed huge pressure on First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
Expose – The protest was organised by Scotland Against Lockdown. The group is opposed to mandatory face masks, social distancing and mandatory vaccines, according to its social media pages. The campaigners are also opposed to the Scottish and UK Governments’ Coronavirus Act 2020.
The crowds gathered in Scotland’s largest city for the march, with many carrying signs and banners opposing new measures.
Some of the banners read “Freedom over fear”, “stand up, take your freedom back” and “my body, my choice”.
Another sign read: “Do you trust your government with your life?”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently facilitating an unplanned procession in Glasgow City centre to ensure public safety and minimise disruption to the community.”
